COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS $2.8 MILLION IN ANNUAL GRANT CYCLE
New JumpStart Grants Program supports grassroots nonprofits
Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT), a nonprofit organization striving to build a more thriving and inclusive community by transforming thoughtful generosity into positive change, is thrilled to announce $2,803,889 in grants to 438 nonprofit partners located in 30 counties located in central Tennessee, making for an average of $6,402 per grant.
This year’s grant awards included the innovative JumpStart Grants, a pilot program designed to assist grassroots organizations that achieved tax-exempt status between 2021-2023 with active programming in place offering early but promising results. A total of 44 JumpStart Grants amounting to $147,932 have been distributed across 13 counties, reflecting CFMT’s dedication to nurturing emerging nonprofits.
“Good work happens every day in our community through the efforts of dedicated and talented staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations, and we are happy to support that work,” says Laundrea Lewis, VP of Grants.
Community Foundation awards discretionary grants annually from its unrestricted and field-of-interest funds to Middle Tennessee nonprofits. Grants are awarded through an open application process for organizations addressing community needs and benefiting the well-being of residents through valuable programs and innovative services.
