After taking a year off due to the pandemic, the Power of the Purse® will gather virtually this spring from the world-renowned The Bluebird Café.
The event, which benefits The Women’s Fund initiative at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, is set for 11:30 am-1 pm Wednesday, May 19 at The Bluebird Café. This special edition event will be an opportunity to gather as you feel comfortable to enjoy the program and online auction.
Join us for an intimate conversation with songwriters Aimee Mayo, RaeLynn, Regina McCrary and host Jennifer Vickery Smith. It will be a celebration of The Women’s Fund “In the Round,” as these incredible women share the stories that have shaped their success.
The Power of the Purse® is an annual gathering of Nashville’s most influential women and farsighted philanthropic leaders who come together to share stories and ideas while raising money to benefit programs serving Middle Tennessee’s women and girls.
Since its beginning in 1998, the Power of the Purse® luncheon keynote speakers have included the talents of “Love Warrior” author Glennon Doyle, Broadway legend, Jennifer Holliday and two-time Olympic gold medalist Mia Hamm.
All proceeds of the Power of the Purse® support the grant making potential of The Women’s Fund. Since its inception in 1994, The Women’s Fund has made grants totaling more than $2.07 million to 144 programs supporting women and girls in Middle Tennessee.

Aimee Mayo is a Grammy-nominated songwriter and author. Her songs have spent 26 weeks in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, including hits “Amazed” and “This One’s For The Girls.” Her songs have been recorded by some of the most successful recording artists of our time, including Backstreet Boys, Sara Evans, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, among countless others. Aimee is one of the few females to receive both BMI’s Country Song of the Year, and BMI’s Country Songwriter of the Year awards, putting her in the company of music icons Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift and Loretta Lynn. Aimee channels her troubled childhood and an abusive marriage into her newly published memoir “Talking to the Sky,” a harrowing and hilarious story of believing in faith over fear and resilience when faced with adversity.
After her success on Team Blake in the wildly popular Season Two of NBC’s “The Voice,” RaeLynn moved from Baytown, Texas to Nashville to pursue her country music career. Her debut single, “God Made Girls” was a top 10 smash on country radio. Her album “WildHorse” topped the Billboard Country Music Albums chart in 2017. Since her arrival in Music City, RaeLynn has scored two Academy of Country Music nominations, Platinum and Gold singles, while touring alongside heroes and friends Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Garth Brooks and Florida Georgia Line. Her most recent EP is on Round Here Records, “Baytown,” has nearly 60 million streams. A fierce advocate for those struggling with diabetes, RaeLynn created The RaeLynn Diabetes Fund at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in 2016.
Regina McCrary, a member of Americana and gospel favorites The McCrary Sisters, is the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel McCrary, lead singer of the legendary gospel quartet The Fairfield Four. In addition to her expansive recording and live performance work with Bob Dylan, she also performed with Elvis (at age 12), toured with Stevie Wonder (at age 19), shared the stage with Aretha Franklin, and has worked with Johnny Cash, Patty Griffin, Dr. Bobby Jones, Buddy Guy, Dr. John and many others. As an actress, she toured for four years with Tyler Perry. She’s an author (“A Mother’s Prayer”) and playwright.
